GPWS / TAWS
Ground proximity warning · simplified envelopes for training only · fictional terrain
—
Side view with the terrain ahead. The dashed line is your 60-second projected path (the look-ahead used for TERRAIN / PULL UP). Try descending too fast (SINK RATE), flying low with the gear up (TOO LOW GEAR), or running at rising terrain. Landing gear and flaps down inhibit the look-ahead warnings below 1,000 ft, as on an approach. Envelopes are simplified, not certified. Tick Voice alerts to hear callouts.

What to try
- Descend too fast, fly low with the gear up, or run at rising terrain to trigger alerts.
- Watch the projected 60-second path against the terrain.
- Turn gear and flaps down to see the inhibitions.
Exam point
GPWS modes include excessive descent rate, excessive terrain closure, altitude loss after take-off, unsafe terrain clearance and below glideslope. PULL UP needs an immediate full-power pull-up.
Study aid only. Figures here are simplified and fictional, so always use current DGCA and ICAO documents and the approved manual for real operations.
